What Is Impossible

"If a man knows not what harbor he seeks, any wind is the right wind."  -Seneca

Impossibility Barrier

People used to believe it was impossible to run a mile in less than four minutes. It was called the "Four-Minute-Mile-Barrier." For many years, athletes tried to break this barrier, and no one could do it; in fact, there was a multitude of scientific evidence to support the fact that it couldn't be done.

Then in 1964, Roger Bannister, a British medical student, broke the barrier. As you'd suspect, it was a huge deal and made headlines in the world of sports. Guess what happened after he did it? Yep -- a lot of people started doing the very same thing -- five or seven athletes that year.

Why? Simple: he had shown them the possibility and encouraged them to break through their own limitations.

When you believe that something is impossible to do, you don't even try, or you do it half-heartedly, so that when it doesn't work given your low level of effort, you do what...say, "see, I told you I couldn't do it." "It's impossible! I knew it was!" It’s all in your mindset.

Henry Ford said it best: “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right!”

If you have never watched “The Secret” take time out and do so (or if you’re a reader…pick up the book). It’s an amazing lesson on how law of attraction works and if you think positive, positive things will happen.

Have you got up on the “wrong” side of the bed and from that point forward everything that could go wrong, did. That’s called the law of attraction. Because you started out thinking negative thoughts, negativity followed you throughout the day.

Here is a short exercise that will completely change your day for the better: Wake up every morning thankful for what you have. Take a look in the mirror and be blessed you have the opportunity to have one more day to reach your goals. Tell yourself all the things you are thankful for along with all the things you want to accomplish – not only today but in the future. ALWAYS keep your goals top of mind and believe you can achieve them. The more you hear something the more you believe, and the more you believe, the more likely you are to work hard to accomplish it!

Out of all the people in the world, only 2% write down their goals and 85% of those people – achieve them! Aim high… break your own “impossibility” barrier.
