A bend in the road is not the end of the road... unless you fail to make the turn. ~Author Unknown

Adversity: It’s something that can crush someone or build them up. When faced with difficult situations we all have an opportunity. Either let that situation define us, or define that situation.
Have you read the amazing book, “Adversity Quotient” by Dr. Paul Sholtz? In AQ, Sholtz says there are basically three different types of people. Not because they were born that way, but because they’ve chosen that road. The three different types of people are “Quitters”, “Campers”, and “Climbers”.

Quitters are exactly what their name implies. Give them a little adversity and their lives are over. These are the people who blame everyone, become overwhelmed easily, and allow adversity to endure longer than needed.
Campers have some capacity for challenge and change. Campers tend to: Let adversities wear them down, resort to blame when tense or tired, and lose hope when adversity is high. These people give themselves a false, “glass ceiling”.
Lastly, Climbers have a tremendous capacity for challenge and change. Climbers tend to: Be resilient and tenacious. They focus on solutions over blame. Climbers are also “agile” in that when obstacles present themselves they look for solutions rather than wallowing in their situation.
Who do you most relate to? We’d all like to relate in some way to the Climber. In the book they give some great examples on how to increase your AQ, not IQ, but Adversity Quotient. Here’s how you can increase your AQ and become more of a Climber instead of a Quitter:
Listen to your response to adversity.
Explore all origins and your ownership responses.
Analyze the evidence.
Do something.
When you follow this formula, my hope is that you’ll lead a more stress free life, overcome obstacles with the greatest of ease and have a more positive outlook on life.
